Artificial nails are considered to be a good and worthwhile investment if one has nails that crack and break easily. However, before actually getting artificial nails, one needs to take certain precautions. One must make sure whether the people who are going to implement this are well trained, experienced and knowledgeable. Also one should be aware of what kind of hygienic precautions will be taken during the procedure. If you are using a do-it-yourself kit, then make sure that it is from a reputed company. Read all the instructions carefully and wash your hands thoroughly before you actually begin with the procedure.

One of the best ways to check your sensitivity to the product is to apply one nail and wait for a few days to see if any sort of a reaction takes place. Also do not apply the artificial nail if there is already an infection in your nails as this may increase the severity of the infection and damage your nail permanently. Wait for the infection to heal totally and then apply the artificial nail. Do not use regular household glues for attaching or repairing the nails. Use only products which are specified for nail use.

It is important to take care of the artificial nails as they may break or separate if too much pressure is applied to them. Cleaning the space between the real and artificial nail will prevent any kind of infection. Do not wear artificial nails for more than three months at a stretch. Remove them for at least for a month to give your real nails a rest. This will maintain your real nails and keep them healthy as well as clean.
